A PLAN to build 14 homes in Burton will improve the lives of people living nearby, according to a developer.
Peter Diffey and Associates has unveiled plans to build houses on land off Scalpcliffe Road, Winshill.
If approved, the homes will be built on the former site of Colorscan Ltd, which recently relocated to the Centrum 100 business park, backing onto Stapenhill Cemetery.
But the developer said Scalpcliffe Road residents should have nothing to fear from the proposals.
It claimed the amount of traffic in the area would be eased compared to when it was commercial land, adding that the homes would come with off-street parking facilities.
A statement from the firm said: “The proposals will remove the business use, demolish and clean up the site and introduce more appropriate residential development on the land. On these grounds it is concluded the scheme will result in substantial environmental gain for the locality and to neighbours.”
