Less than an hour's drive from Burton, three new developments at Kingswood Lakeside Business Park will see the creation of nearly 800 jobs. The planned business park is situated in Cannock which is 25 miles away from Burton's own Pirelli Stadium.

Big hitting national businesses such as Veolia, First Choice, HellermannTyton and APC Overnight are already at the business park and two further units are being built right now which are set to create more than 500 jobs, and work is set to begin on a third – generating a further 140 jobs.

Staffordshire County Council has begun the process of selling a fourth plot of land, which will be the final addition to the business park and is expected to offer an extra 130 jobs.

Kingswood Lakeside was developed by Staffordshire County Council on a former opencast mining site and is one of the county's leading employment sites, lying next to Junction T7 of the M6 Toll Road and the A5.

Mark Winnington, Staffordshire County Council's economic growth leader, said that the number of jobs created by the land was good news.

He said: "We're now moving towards the sale of the last plot of land at Kingswood Lakeside, which is a significant milestone for the site and means it will soon be fully occupied. Just taking the three new developments alone, we will see the creation of nearly 800 jobs, which is more good news for Staffordshire residents. Added with the hundreds working on site, we will have one of the largest employment hubs in the county."
