A NEW charity shop which will donate all its proceeds to a local animal rescue centre will open on Thursday.

The RSPCA shop in High Street, Swadlincote, puts all the money it makes straight to the rescue centre in Hillfield Lane, Stretton.

Murrae Blair-Park, regional RSPCA branch manager, said the shop's opening this week would also mark the 25th anniversary of the rescue centre, which costs £4,700 a week to run.

With its emphasis on the community, the charity shop recently enlisted the help of Swadlincote's Chameleon School of Construction to kit it out.

The store, as well as creating one-and-a-half paid jobs, is also hoping to take on another 20 volunteers. It will sell clothes, shoes, furniture, and bric a brac.

Anyone who wants to make a donation or apply for a volunteering role can contact Murrae Blair-Park on 07896 546831.
