A STAPENHILL academy has been awarded a top gong recognising its excellence in ICT skills.
Violet Way Academy has been re-awarded the ICT Mark which recognises excellence in the teaching and learning of ICT skills.
Dr Dianne Marshall, academy principal, said: “At Violet Way we have specialist ICT teaching for all children. Traci Woodward has been instrumental in raising and sustaining the profile of ICT across the school for many years.
“We believe that ICT can be used in every aspect of learning and that it is essential for our children to be equipped for the modern world. The strength the school has in this area was noted by Ofsted during the school’s inspection in June 2012.
“The report said ‘a particular strength is the excellent use of information communication technology (ICT) to promote learning’.”
The school now plans to apply for the new higher award of ‘3rd Millennium Learning Award’.
