Air cadet squad now recruiting

A SUCCESSFUL air cadet squadron is holding an informal recruitment event.

The 1211 (Swadlincote) Squadron has organised the meeting to allow youngsters and their parents to take a closer look at what it does at 7pm on Tuesday, February 5.

Squadron Commander Flight Lieutenant Alyn Thompson said: “We open our doors to new recruits only a few times each year.

“This is an ideal opportunity for any young people who have been following our good progress in recent news to join us and become part of the good work we do.

“We offer every cadet an exciting variety of activities and professional training that will give them an array of skills and leadership experience to make them stand out when they venture into the world of work.

“We set aside plenty of time to answer any questions after our recruitment team deliver their informative presentation.

“Guests are welcome to talk to our staff and cadets to find out first-hand what the Air Training Corps has to offer.”

The squadron is regarded of one of the best in the country after winning a host of awards during the past two years.
