A DISCOUNT supermarket with shops in Burton and South Dertbyshire is on the lookout for new staff – with dozens of roles set to be available in the area.
Aldi revealed that stores in Horninglow Street, Burton, The Pipeworks retail park, in Swadlincote, and off Huntspill Road, in Hilton, look set to be boosted with up to 50 new recruits as part of nationwide staff search by the firm.
Bosses told the Mail that they required additional staff due to rapid sales increases, but were struggling to fill all the positions available.
James Hutcheson, of Aldi, said: “It is undoubtedly a challenge for Aldi to recruit thousands of staff across the country during the next nine months, but with roles available in all UK stores, we believe there is a strong desire to work for a successful and growing retailer.
“Our stores are becoming much busier, so we require additional staff to maintain the excellent customer service which our customers expect.
“Aldi will be targeting experienced and talented retail staff to join our store management teams, and we are hoping to attract individuals from a wide range of backgrounds for our general store positions.”
The firm is looking to hire an additional 5,000 store staff and more than 500 store management personnel in 2014 across the country.
New staff will not only be trained in-store, but also at the new Aldi Academy in Manchester.
The site will oversee the ongoing training and development of store staff, apprentices and area managers as well as helping to identify new recruits.
Full training will be provided over a 12-week period, and roles are available from 15 hours a week.
Salaries for store assistants start at £7.95 an hour, rising to £9.50 an hour with key responsibilities for successful candidates including accurate and efficient till operations, stock management and merchandising.
