A CONCERT night has raised £1,300 for a village church’s funds.

Anne Wright was behind the plan to invite the Denstone College Band to give a concert to raise funds for her childhood church at Rangemore.

Anne’s son had been a Denstone student. Her dream came true when both the Denstone Concert Band and the Swing Band came along.

Rev Les Rees said: “They gave a wonderful concert of varied music ending in true ‘proms’ style. The church was full. Everyone enjoyed a wonderful evening with strawberries and cream and a glass of wine to boot.

“At the end of the evening, Anne’s fundraising had succeeded, leaving the church better off to the tune of around £1,300. And a promise of a further donation of £250 has been made from Molson Coors (UK ).

“We give our heartfelt thanks to members of the Denstone bands, to Anne, her husband Roger and other supporters for their hard work and to everyone who supported the concert in whatever way.”
