A BURTON artist is celebrating after two of his works were placed on display in America - with one also set to feature in a music video.
Alistair Kennedy, who works from his studio in Shobnall Street, currently has two of his paintings on show on separate sides of the United States, one in Florida and the other in Los Angeles.
The first artwork, entitled ‘In The Shallows’, is on display at The CityArts Factory, in Orlando’s famous downtown arts district.
The exhibition is being held to benefit Florida’s Centre for Contemporary Dance (CCD), Special Needs Classes.
The second painting called ‘At play on the beach’, will feature in a brand new music video by legendary indie rock band ‘The Pixies’.
The filming of the video for their song ‘Snakes’, was filmed on location in Los Angeles and the painting was shipped over by the director personally so it could have a starring role.
Mr Kennedy said: “I’m really excited about both works being over in the States and hope I can build on the opportunity.
“I’m especially pleased about the Pixies music video as I’m a huge fan. I was commissioned to create the work by the director Mark Locke, of FortMark Films, who wanted something really specific painting to fit the storyline.
“He took the painting with him on the plane so that it would get there safely.”
Closer to home, Mr Kennedy is creating several new canvases for exhibitions in Staffordshire.
The first is at the late Lord Lichfield’s private apartments based in the magnificent Mansion House on the Shugborough Estate, as part of Staffordshire Enjoy Art’s Spring Show.
The exhibition runs from April 12 to the May 5 and entry to the exhibition is included with the price of admission.
