Ashby Fire Station joined the national fire strikes for two hours from noon yesterday. At 2pm, a crew was called to a Transit van opposite Avenue Road, Ashby, which caught fire due to a faulty lithium battery in the rear of the vehicle.

No-one was injured and the fire had been extinguished by 2.13pm.
