A PROPERTY developer is warning youngsters in Ashby about the dangers of playing in building sites this summer.
David Wilson Homes, which is currently developing homes in Ivanhoe Fields in the town, said that although building sites might look like a fun place to play, they still posed serious dangers to children.
The company regularly visits local schools in areas where developments are taking place to warn pupils of the dangers lurking within building sites, and actively encourages them to stay away.
However, it is now repeating the message to deter adventurous children from wandering into sites where there could be hidden dangers.
Construction director at David Wilson Homes in the East Midlands, Darren Langton, said: "Children of all ages are often on the lookout for somewhere new and exciting to play over the summer holidays, but construction sites are not adventure playgrounds.
"At this time of year it is important to remind children and parents about the potential hazards on construction sites and the need to stay well away from them."
Darren says that while construction workers will be looking out for children entering building sites during the day, they cannot deter youngsters from entering once work has finished for the evening, and is calling on parents in Ashby to help reinforce the message.
