A TEENAGE girl has had her sentencing case for racial assault adjourned after she was arrested over a burglary the night before her court appearance.
Laura Fern, 18, of Cumberland Road, Stapenhill, was due to attend Burton Magistrates’ Court on Friday .
She previously admitted assaulting Zeeshan Ahmed, in Burton, on May 2, and that it was racially aggravated.
However, in court, her defence solicitor, Mark Aspden, said Fern had already failed to report to probation so they could not complete her pre-sentence report, adding that she was then arrested on Friday morning for burglary.
He told magistrates: “I don’t know why she didn’t attend her probation appointments. However, she may not even be charged (with the burglary).
“I had a letter from probation saying she did not attend her Drug Rehabilitation Requirement.”
Magistrates adjourned her case until July 4.
She answers conditional bail not to contact the victim, not to enter Grange Street and to keep appointments with probation.
