A SOUTH Derbyshire school has celebrated the opening of a new look library.

Springfield Junior School, in Springfield Road, Swadlincote, welcomed best-selling children’s author Andy Cope to officially re-open their new library.

The library has been recently updated with a new computer system, and thanks to the dedication of school librarians, classes are now able to gain full access to the exciting variety of books on offer.

Mr Cope that the library looked like a ‘great place to relax and chill out with a good book’.

The whole school were also treated to an exciting and inspiring assembly from the ‘Spy Dog’ author, who encouraged the children to discover the joy of reading and ‘be brilliant’ in all that they do.

Teachers have challenged the children to write their own ‘Spy Dog’ style story, about a pet with an exciting, secret identity.

The winning story feature on the school website.
