BURTON Albion have made their first new signing of the summer in snapping up young defender George Taft on a two-year contract.
The 6'5" centre-half, who can also play left-back, was released by Leicester City, through whose youth academy he graduated.
Though the 20-year-old England Under-19 international never made an appearance for the Foxes, he did spend time on loan with Conference side Kettering Town, as well as Swedish side Karlstad BK, and Burton's League Two rivals York City.
Brewers boss Gary Rowett said: “George is a player we’ve been watching for a while, and we’re pleased to have him on board.
“He brings a lot of height to the team, something that we probably lacked a bit last season and we’re confident he can give us something a little bit different going into next season.”
Taft said on Twitter: "Signed for Burton Albion this morning, excited for my next chapter and can't wait to get started."
