AN 18-YEAR-OLD woman was threatened with a gun during a robbery in Burton.

A man took the Burton teenager's mobile phone and handbag after he approached her as she was walking by Stapenhill Gardens on Tuesday evening.

She was not hurt, but was left shaken by the incident, which happened at 7.35pm, police have said.

A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "He asked her for a light and then demanded property while demanding what was believed to be a small firearm. He stole items before running off along a footpath towards the town centre."

The items were later found discarded in the gardens.

A helicopter was deployed to look for the culprit, but nobody was located,

Officers are continuing their enquiries and seeking information from anybody who may know something about the incident.

The man is described as white, in his early 20s, 5ft 6ins tall and with slim build. He was wearing a green fisherman-type coat with a hood and jeans.

Anyone with information should contact DC Adrian Toon on 101, quoting incident number 666 of March 4, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
