MOVING a chimpanzee at Twycross Zoo went wrong, forcing the closure of the popular venue.
It is understood that during the rehousing of one of the eight chimps, it managed to get into an area of the enclosure that it was not supposed to.
Emergency plans were immediately put into place, and the zoo was forced to close for the ‘safety of staff and visitors.’
The police were called at 9.35am to stop the public from trying to access the zoo but reports suggest there was no immediate danger to anyone inside the premises.
The zoo was reopened again at 11.28am this morning.
