GOLFERS are set to play a round of the game blindfolded in an effort to raise money for two charities.

Kim Tierney, lady captain of Branston Golf and Country Club, off Fairway, has announced plans for the unique challenge that is set to take place on Sunday, February 3.

The event will see members of the club take part in 18 holes of golf blindfolded from first tee shot to last putt.

Speaking on her blog, the lady captain said: “Each captain tries to think of something different each year to raise money for their chosen charity and this year is no exception.

“So after much deliberating, my challenge is on Sunday, February 3 at Branston and will feature a round of golf blindfolded from first tee shot to last putt.”

Money raised will be split between The British Heart Foundation and Prostate Cancer

There will be live updates on the day of the competition during every single hole on Facebook and the lady captain’s blog.

People are being urged to get in touch via email to pledge support the fund-raising game of golf by way of donations or offering prizes.

She added: “There is an invitation for everyone to come along and see the 18th played and there will be a presentation afterwards to confirm times taken and winners.

“There will also be a chance to win a cash prize.

“When you send your pledge, have a free guess at how long you think the round will take from the first tee shot to the last putt.

“There will be two guesses – one using a buggy and another guess if we have to walk.”

People are also being urged to regular check the lady captain’s blogs for updates on how practice for the competition is going as well as updates about the competition day.

The fact that some of the money raised will go to the British Heart Foundation has added significance due to the fact that last year Burton was named as a ‘Heart Town’.

This means that the charity does more to help people with heart problems in the town.
