THREE of six books to commemorate fallen First World War soldiers in North West Leicestershire were launched yesterday.
The event was attended by the Lord Lieutenant of Leicestershire, Lady Gretton.
She praised the vision and the application of researchers and the teamwork shown by the area to put each book together for publication.
The books detail the lives of men from Ashby and surrounding villages who were killed in the conflict and whose names adorn war memorials in the town.
Ken Hillier, from Ashby Museum, was also on hand to explain the origins of the project and how it was developed over time.
Books are also due to be launched detailing the lives of servicemen from Moira, Donisthorpe and Albert Village in due course.
The books launched yesterday will be available to purchase from museums in Ashby and Measham.
