THE fifth round of the AMCA British Motocross Championship is being held at Branston tomorrow.
Motocross is an adrenalin pumping discipline in off-road motorcycle sport, with 36 riders on specially adapted bikes and dressed in multi-coloured protective clothing contesting a series of races over a marked circuit.
Tomorrow's event is being promoted by the Burntwood MXC, in conjunction with the AMCA, which is the largest controlling organisation for off-road motorcycle sport in the UK.
This particular major national series provides racing over seven rounds, with riders competing in two classes – MX1 for bikes with an engine size greater than 250cc and MX2 for bikes with an engine size smaller than 249cc.
As well as the super motocross racing, there will be refreshment stalls and motocross-related retailers on site.
Action starts at 11am and goes through to around 5.30pm. Admission costs are £5 with OAPs/children at £3.
The circuit will be signposted off the A38 at Branston, near Burton, postcode DE13 9SB.
