A GROUP of brothers from South Derbyshire have managed to raise more than £1,500 for charity with a football tournament in memory of their parents.

Lee, Carl, Luke and Paul Dickinson wanted to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation and Queen’s Hospital during Saturday’s tournament, which saw people flock to Newhall United FC for a day of footie and fun.

The brothers, one of whom plays for Port Vale FC – each got a team together, and they played throughout the day.

There were also activities for the family.

“It went brilliantly, with plenty of people turning up. We’re up to about £1,500 so far, with a few bits to add on,” Lee Dickinson told the Mail.

They decided to host the event following the sudden death of their mum Tracy earlier this year.

It followed the death of their father, Paul, who suffered a heart attack seven years ago.

The funds for the hospital will go to ward 11, where Mrs Dickinson was treated before she died.
