BURTON Albion Ladies moved a step closer to promotion with an excellent team performance to beat Newcastle Town at St George’s Park on Sunday.
Manager Adam Smallman made a few changes to the squad from the previous week, including a start for Chelsie Tebble after her return from injury.
And it did not take Tebble long to get on the scoresheet as she broke clear after three minutes to place the ball into the far corner with a cool finish.
Livewire Ruby Hallam (pictured) made it 2-0 just two minutes later after a cut back from Tebble allowed the winger to sidefoot into an unguarded net.
Hallam was flying down the wing and added her second on 15 minutes when she broke away from the full back and, with the keeper approaching, she calmly lifted the ball over the keeper and into the net – a goal of real quality from a developing talent.
It was 4-0 to the Brewers on 45 minutes as Tebble raced onto a long pass and tucked the ball between keeper and covering defender to seal her second of the game.
The second half started with the additions of Michelle Beck and Sarah Levitt from the bench and they both got onto the scoresheet.
Beck drove the ball home from the right wing on 67 minutes after a great ball from Sian Watts, and Levett completed the scoring with a bullet header on 83 minute from a Darcie Sanders corner.
The Ladies are at home to Stoke Town next Sunday, kick-off 2pm.
