BLOW . . . losing Zeli Ismail to injury is a major loss says Burton Albion skipper Lee Bell

IT SHOULD be a good game against Scunthorpe United tomorrow and we are really looking forward to it.

They are on a good run, 20-odd games unbeaten, and are flying at the minute.

We’ve had some good results ourselves over that same time period.

Scunthorpe will have seen our results on the road and know we are a threat.

When you are on a run like they are you feel unbeatable, but we’re not looking at past results, an unbeaten run or whatever.

It’s just one of a massive nine games now. There’s definitely confidence in the squad. The boys are positive.

The training session in midweek was one of the best sessions we have had.

The lads are really enjoying themselves, enjoying the work.

It’s up to us. It’s not about performances any more.

It’s not about trying to play like Barcelona or whoever, it’s about doing what is necessary to pick up the points.

You have to turn up and be able to grind out results when you have to.

The fans were obviously disappointed at the end of the game at Wimbledon.

But we need them to stay with us – to create a real atmosphere for our remaining home games.

Hopefully they can enjoy what is happening, get behind us and help us get over that line – wherever it may be.

We were all disappointed to concede so late on against Wimbledon.

I think the referee has got it wrong in terms of the amount of time added on.

He does not want to stop it when it’s a corner, but that should be irrelevant.

Still, I think we know we have to defend right until the final whistle.

I had a little look at the referee’s watch and it said 98 minutes.

To play three or even five minutes was enough. But we get on with it and look forward to the next.

For me it’s good to be back playing. I think I’ve done alright in the last couple of games and hopefully I can stay in the team – but that’s down to the manager.

It’s not about individuals. It’s about us a group getting to where we want to be.

The injury to Zeli Ismail was a blow. He had become a fans’ favourite and it’s easy to see why.

He’s come down a few leagues and you wonder what to expect.

His work-rate is good and he has an end product.

He’d carry stuff off the bus – I’ve noticed little things like that. That’s a credit to him and his character.

I’ve sent him a little message but obviously he’s gutted. It’s a real shame for the lad.

We’ve signed another player in Callum McFadzean from Sheffield United on loan.

It gives the manager another attacking option. I’ve played against Callum a couple of times.

He’s a direct winger and is a good addition at this crucial time of the season for the club.
