SWAD Caths A moved top of Burton and District Crown Green Bowls Division One after picking up the only away win of round eight.

They won 12-4 at Henhurst to take over top spot from Anglesey A, who could only manage a 8-6 home win against Littleover A.

The other home wins were for Rolls Royce, 11-3 against Washlands A, Belvedere A, who overcame Barton A 11-3 and Alvaston, who out-played Netherseal A to win 12-2.

Alvaston had four single figure winners in their victory over Netherseal, the best coming from Dan Hartley (21-2), Liam Anguish and Mat Kelley-Walley (both 21-4), while Rolls Royce’s Rob Treece scored a 21-5.

Washlands’ Lee Pacey was the best away player this week with a 21-7 at Rolls Royce.

In Division Two, Newhall Social A won 12-4 against Rolleston A to replace Belvedere B at the top of the league after Belvedere lost 5-9 at Eureka Park A.

The only other result this week was a 12-4 for Anglesey B at Littleover B.

Anglesey move up a couple of place’s but are 16 points behind leaders Newhall.

There were no single figure home winners in Division Two, but six players won away to low scores, the best coming from Newhall’s Lee Johnson (21-3).

It was all home wins in Division Three as Swad Caths B beat leaders Tutbury A 11-3.

Hatton overcame second-placed Lamb Inn 8-6, and Netherseal B moved up to fourth after their 10-4 victory over Washlands SBK.

Gardens and Washlands B both won 12-2 against Belvedere C and Marston’s respectively.

The best home win in the division came from Swad Caths’ P Bladwin, who won 21-2.

The only player to achieve a single figure away win was Brian Maskrey of Washlands SBK, 21-8 at Netherseal.

Amongst the four games played in Division Four was a win for Barton B, 12-2 against Stapenhill B.

Barton now have a 12-point lead at the top of the division.

Eton Park beat second-placed New Inn 9-5, while Winshill B overcame Stretton B 9-5 and Cons Club enjoyed a 12-4 away win at Alrewas.

The top bowler at home was Eton Park’s Graham Earp, who was in spectacular form winning 21-1.

There were two 21-4 wins from Barton’s Alan Wilkins and Winshill’s Mick Adkins.

Cons Club’s pair Danny Loughen and Richard McAllister were the top away bowlers, both winning 21-3, while there was also a 21-5 for New Inn’s Matt Farmer at Eton Park.

There were four big away wins in Division Five, including a 12-4 for leaders Rolleston B at Newhall Social B.

Rolleston have now amassed 93 points in just eight games.

Second-placed Chellaston also won 12-4, at Tutbury B, while Gardens Swans B won 10-6 at Belvedere D and Barton C won 10-6 at Stretton C.

The only home win was for Lamb Inn, 8-6 against Washlands C.

Belvedere’s Joe Kinsella was the division’s top home player with a 21-3.

Rolleston’s J Webster scored a 21-6 to be the division’s leading away player, closely followed by Barton’s rising star JC Chatterton, who carded a 21-7.
