Burton and Swadlincote avoid any major weather issues

BURTON and South Derbyshire avoided being placed on flood alert after rain battered both areas over the weekend.

Small pockets of flooding had appeared across both areas but Environment Agency chiefs put this down to the build-up of excess water after prolonged periods of rain on Friday and Saturday.

However, both the River Trent and River Dove avoided been placed on 'high' flood alert after rainfall levels were not as high as expected.

Police and fire chiefs in Burton and Swadlincote revealed there had been 'no major incidents' related to the weather.
