BURTON archer Jack Masefield was part of a three-man Great Britain team who struck gold in the recurve cadet class at the Youth Cup Second Leg in Moscow.

The rapidly improving team of Masefield, Joe Ground and Bradley Denny beat a German side to win in the Olympic-recognised sport.

Masefield, 17, is a member of the Central Regional Performance Academy where his programme coach is John Dunster. He has also been working with Ollie Holt and Harry Heeley at the Lichfield Archers training group.

Masefield was also part of the team which recently won the Cadet Men's Recurve Team Gold medal at the European Outdoor Youth Championships in Ljubljana.

Sara Symington, performance director of Archery GB, said: "We knew that we had selected a very talented team for this tournament and they have gone on to exceed our expectations.

"The team have learned from and continued their recent success at the European Outdoor Youth Championships in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

"The archers have really bonded and are working well together as groups and we look forward to seeing what they can achieve in the future."
