A MAN who destroyed two doors with an axe has been jailed.
Steven Pekar, of Burton, was sentenced to eight months jail by Stafford Crown Court.
The 55-year-old was found guilty of affray and possession of an offensive weapon in a public place following a dramatic incident in Heath Road, Stapenhill, earlier this year.
Armed police rushed to the scene after Pekar tried to smash through the doors of a house.
Sue Rose, landlord of the property, said: "I am pleased that nobody was injured and the tenant is doing fine.
"In the end, two double-glazed doors were very badly damaged as a result of what happened.
"I was called by someone who lives in the street to tell me what happened and decided I had to go up and make sure all involved were all right.
A police spokesman said: "A man was arrested by armed officers in Heath Road, Stapenhill, after police were called to reports of a distressed man with a large axe causing damage to an address at around 6.10pm on Sunday, May 18.
"Armed officers quickly disarmed and arrested the man and police are now investigating the incident. There were no reports of any injuries to members of the public and the officers quickly and safely took control of the situation."
