COMPETITORS are being urged to get in training ahead of the return of the national barrel-rolling championships to Burton.
A variety of teams will take part in the popular event, which forms part of the Society of Independent Brewers' annual beer festival in October.
Alongside men and women from across the county competing to be crowned champions, more than 30 independent brewers will also be at the event, held at the National Brewery Centre, in Horninglow Street, showing a variety of beers.
A spokesman for the event said: "We'd urge people to join us at our second annual SIBA beer festival.
"Around 30 small independent brewers from around the country will be offering a brilliant range of beers for visitors to taste .
"With live bands playing on the Friday and Saturday nights, a DJ on stage during Saturday daytime and a barbecue and hog roast it promises to be a great event.
"The Saturday will feature the national barrel-rolling championships being staged, with male and female singles and mixed doubles competitions."
It is not yet known whether the 'king and queen' of barrel-rolling, Keith and Christine Norris, will be taking part in the contest.
The husband-and-wife team took a clean sweep at last year's event, winning their retrospective singles events and the mixed doubles.
The event runs on Friday and Saturday, October 24 and 25.
The event will initially run from 4pm to 7pm on Friday and entry will be £2 per person.
The evening event will take place from 7.30pm to 11.30pm and entry will cost £5 per person.
The Saturday part of the festival will cost £3 to enter from 10.30am to 7pm. The evening portion of the event will run from 7.30pm to 11.30pm and cost £5 to enter.
