AN investigation is under way after the body of man was discovered in Burton.

Staffordshire Police confirmed that a man, believed to be in his 50s, died, despite the efforts of paramedics at a property in Shannon Approach, off Duke Street, yesterday morning.

Police cars were spotted outside the house throughout the day as inquiries continued.

A spokesman for the force said: "We were called to a property in Shannon Approach at around 8.25am yesterday by West Midlands Ambulance Service.

"A man was found dead but his death is not thought to be suspicious.

"We are now preparing a report to be sent to the coroner."

A WMAS spokesman said: "A rapid response vehicle and an ambulance were dispatched to the property after a call was received at 8.10am that a man in his 50s was unconscious.

"The ambulance reached the scene in three minutes and 50 seconds.

"However, the male was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

"The police were called and the scene was left in the hands of officers from Staffordshire Police."
