POLICE have issued a renewed appeal for information over the discovery of a woman's body in Burton after a post-mortem examination into her death proved 'inconclusive'.

Staffordshire Police issued the plea for help after revealing that the death of the woman, described as being in her 50s, was still being treated as unexplained.

A 51-year-old man from Burton, who was being questioned by detectives in connection with the investigation, has now been released on bail pending further enquiries.

Specialist forensic officers yesterday continued a detailed examination of the house in Greenway, Winshill, where the body was found on Tuesday.

A spokesman for the force told the Mail: "At approximately 1.10pm on Tuesday police were called to an address in Greenway, Winshill, Burton, by colleagues from the ambulance service after a woman's body was discovered at the property.

"A Home Office post-mortem examination has taken place but has proved inconclusive. Further investigations will take place.

"Police are still treating the death as unexplained and the woman has yet to be formally identified.

"The 51-year-old man who was arrested in connection with the incident has been bailed pending further investigations."
