A CUB scout who gained all of her badges in less than a year has received a letter from the Chief Scout praising her hard work.
Bear Grylls wrote a letter of congratulations to Jade Tideswell, of the 11th Burton Scout group, who completed all of her cub scout badges before her ninth birthday, raising more than £1,000 in the process.
The letter read: "I just wanted to drop you a line and say congratulations on completing all your cub scout badges, and raising over £1,000 at the same time … awesome!"
At just eight years old, Jade set herself the challenge of getting all of her badges before her ninth birthday.
And in less than a year she had done just that.
She raised £1,100 through sponsors who supported her quest to win the 51 badges available to her.
Jade has decided to split the money between her cub group in Yoxall and the Midlands Air Ambulance.
Her mum Jackie, of Brickhall Lane, Newborough, said: "It's been a lot of hard work but she's really enjoyed it and it was nice of Bear Grylls to take the time to write a letter – it's lovely.
"She's already said she is going to get all of her scout badges too when she joins them."
And Jackie isn't finished sewing badges just yet, as Jade's younger brother, five-year-old Jack, will be following in his older sister's footsteps and starting cubs in September.
Mrs Tideswell added: "Jade's really enjoyed it at the cubs group, I can't praise them enough. It's brilliant."
