A WEIGHT loss group is celebrating after managing to raise more than £100 for Burton firefighters.

The Queen Street Community Centre Weight Loss Challenge group has handed over a cheque for £113.22 to the firefighters’ charity, after raising the money in 12 weeks.

The fund-raising was possible with a zumba session and raffles, while members are also fined if they miss a class and if they put on weight.

During the presentation, £300 was also donated to Louise Cartwright, who lost the most weight – losing her baby weight after having twins, while £200 was given to Ruqaha Sadique, who came second, and third place went to Flo Compton who was awarded £100.

The group lost a total of 232 lbs -16 stone 5lb.

The new classes start on Wednesday, January 9, at 7pm, and Friday, January 11, at 10am, both at the community centre, in Queen Street, Burton.
