SWIMMERS Adam Doughty and Katie Reilly both secured a hat-trick of wins as Burton ASC romped to third place in Round Two of the Leicester League Diddy Competition.

Doughty picked up top spot in the Under-12 50m Backstroke as well as being part of the U12 25m Freestyle Relay team and the U12 4x25 Medley Relay teams that both tasted victory. Both teams also included Theo Hamilton, Matt Gates and Jack Ward.

Reilly won in both the U9 and U10 25m Breaststroke races and also claimed first place in the U9 25m Freestyle event.

Tom Mitchell was the winner of the U9 25m Backstroke race, with Annabelle Joseph winning the U11 25m Freestyle.

Mitchell also took an impressive second place in the U9 25m Breaststroke and Noah O’Brien followed up with second spot in the U9 25m Freestyle race.

The pair then claimed another second place, this time as part of the U9 4x25 Freestyle Relay.

Reilly, Brooke Sherratt, Charlotte Joseph and Sophie Fowkes formed the U9 4x25 Medley Relay team, and the girls brought Burton home another splendid second place.

The same team also picked up third spot in the U9 4x25 Freestyle Relay.

In the Under-9 25m backstroke, Fowkes set a new personal best of 22.49secs but again narrowly missed out on the win, this time by half a length.

Jacques Agnew and Ward also took second places in the U10 25m Freestyle and the U10 25m Breaststroke races respectively.

Agnew and Ward then teamed up alongside Cameron Hardwick and George Greener in the U10 4x25 Freestyle Relay, securing yet another runner-up spot for Burton.

Theo Hamilton was runner-up in both the U12 50m Backstroke and 50m Freestyle events, before the mixed 8x25m Breaststroke Cannon team very impressively came second in a very strong field. The team consisted of Sherratt, Mitchell, Aimee Powell, Ward, Emma Brown, Anthony Vakis, Alice Preston and Doughty.

Claiming third spot in the U9 4x25 Medley Relay was boys O’Brien (PB 27.09), Mitchell (PB 27.44), Harvey Day and Ben Harper (PB 28.87).

Daisy Haynes picked up a further three third place finishes, including the U10 25m Freestyle, where she set a new personal best of 18.24.

She then helped Powell, Fowkes and Niamh Holden in the U10 4x25 Medley Relay. Her final third place finish was again alongside Powell and Holden, with the addition of Charlotte Joseph in the U10 4x25 Freestyle Relay.

Fowkes then turned her attention to the U10 25m Butterfly where she finished third, with Greener doing the same in the boys’ event.

Ward set a PB of 19.54 to finish in third spot in the U11 25m Butterfly, and Annabelle Joseph finished in the same position in the U11 25m Backstroke.

Josie Stevenson nearly equalled her PB as she came third in the U12 50m Breaststroke, and then took the same position in the U12 50m Freestyle.

She had also already took third spot earlier in the day when she joined up with Hayley Brightman, Kirsty Lambley and Preston in the U12 25m Freestyle Relay.

The U12 4x25 Medley Relay team also had a superb race ending in a deserved 3rd place from Preston (PB 20.26), Lambley (PB 21.77), Brightman and Stevenson (PB 15.59).

Ward and Gates joined Sophie Fowkes, O’Brien (PB 19.56), Reilly, Agnew (PB 18.41), Joseph and Lambley to grab a thoroughly deserved 3rd place in the final event of the evening.

Another fantastic evening for Burton ASC saw a third-place overall finish, with some brilliant individual performances aided by some terrific relay teamwork.
