A BURTON garage has earned the title of best in the UK for 2014 in a national competiton.
Staff at Crescent Motors, in Wetmore Road, went up against mechanics from all over the country in the annual Independent Garage of the Year contest, after they topped a public vote earlier in the year.
And when they attended a ceremony in London this week, they discovered they had beaten off their rivals to scoop the top prize.
Steve Tallet, the managing director of the company, told the Mail: "We are absolutely delighted to stand here today and say that we are officially independent garage of the year.
"We are the one, out of 8,000 garages entered into Garage of The Year.
"The support and congratulations from customers has been phenomenal.
"Without their continuous support and our wonderful team at Crescent, we wouldn't be where we are today.
"We have been able to achieve continued success in winning several awards throughout the many years we have been in business, especially within the last year, and we can't wait for the celebration and the future.
"Onwards and upwards."
Mr Tallet said the team was 'shocked' to learn they had won the award, though admitted he thought they were in with a chance after winning other awards recently for their great customer service.
Judges from Motor Codes reviewed comments from customers and considered a submission by the company. They praised the ethos of the garage, along with their commitment to staff.
Chris Mason, managing director of Motor Codes, said: "Crescent has a commitment to its staff and customers to drive quality, investing in apprentice programmes and partnering with local colleges through community programmes.
"Crescent has clearly embedded itself in the local community, helping young people on the road to a rewarding, long-term career, undertaking impressive charity work and running valuable car care events."
