BURTON'S MP has announced details of a fourth jobs fair in the town as part of his efforts to drive down unemployment.

Andrew Griffiths revealed the event would be held on Thursday, September 18, at Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium, in Princess Way.

The event is set to offer thousands of jobs to people currently out of work.

More than 1,600 people descended on the event last year in the space of only five hours.

Mr Griffiths told the Mail: "I am very pleased to announce that the jobs fair will be returning for the fourth year running.

"We hope to continue the success enjoyed over the past three years.

"Last year alone we had more than 3,000 jobs on offer to people in the area."

Burton-based firms Pirelli, Spirit, Punch Taverns and Uttoxeter-based JCB have all been named as sponsors of the event.

Mr Griffiths added: "Last time out we had 50 different companies take part and thousands of jobseekers attend looking for work.

"We were so pleased that some even walked away from the event with a new job.

"The event will also feature training and advice sessions hosted by Burton and South Derbyshire College.

"Ever since the jobs fair last year I have been contacted by a number of businesses keen for us to repeat the event and help them with recruitment.

"We have recently seen unemployment fall yet again in the town and we hope that this jobs fair will help reduce this figure even further in the future.

"We are looking forward to a great event and helping a lot of people in the town."

Any businesses interested in taking part in the event should call the MP's London office on 02072 197029 or email andrew.griffiths.mp@parliament.uk

All credit to Andrew for this jobs fair. Many MPs will be organising these events and I believe a friend of mine Andy Betteridge is working on one in Blackpool for the respective MP up there.
