PEOPLE are being urged to 'line the streets of Burton' to honour a historic military regiment linked with the town.
The Staffordshire Regimental Association revealed that it will be holding a day of events today.
This will include a parade along High Street and several events at Burton Town Hall.
The annual reunion is being held to remember the Staffordshire Regiment and honour soldiers from its past.
Dave 'Dinky' Allen, chairman of the Burton Branch of the Staffordshire Regimental Association, spoke to the Mail about the plans.
He said: "This is an annual reunion to celebrate the history of the Staffordshire Regiment.
"A lot of the events will be based at Burton Town Hall including a reunion in the morning and an evening of entertainment.
"In the middle of the day, there will be a parade though the town by members of the association and others.
"We will have association members coming from across the Midlands for the event.
"It will also be supported by the Army cadets, Army reserves and others.
"The event is a great way for us all to come together and celebrate the history and all parts of the regiment.
"This is a major event in the town and I would hope that plenty of people will come out and support it.
"We need to make sure we never forget the regiment and this is part of that effort."
The Staffordshire Regiment became part of the Mercian Regiment in 2007 after a reorganisation.
