Burton physio teams up with GB basketball team

PERFORM St George's Park lead physiotherapist Paul Williamson has joined up with the Great Britain senior men's basketball team.

Prior to becoming a physio, Williamson competed for Great Britain for more than 11 years in the pole vault.

He was five times British champion and also competed at the World Student Games, nine European Championships and was a Commonwealth Games finalist.

The basketball team are currently in Belgium playing a series of warm-up games ahead of a four-team tournament Tbilisi before the EuroBasket qualifiers against Iceland and Bosnia-Herzegovina get under way in August.

Phil Horton, Perform director, said: "We are extremely proud to have such a high-performing team of specialists here at Perform St George's Park and it's fantastic to see their talent recognised by top national teams.

"From the team here at Perform St George's Park, I wish Paul and the team the very best as they head to Belgium this week. GB Basketball fans can be rest assured that the team are in very safe hands."
