BURTON'S MP challenged the Mail's news editor to take part in the ice bucket challenge – and he accepted.

Rob Smyth was nominated for the drenching by Andrew Griffiths and dutifully responded by pouring a bucket of ice old water over his head.

The challenge, which has seen the likes of George W Bush and David Beckham take part, sprung into life to help raise funds for ALS – the amyotrophic lateral sclerosis charity.

Each participant is urged to donate to charity, pour a bucket of icy water over their heads and then nominate others to do the same.
