A BURTON school has fought off tough competition to come out on top in a competition that highlights the best new-build projects in the area.
Bosses at Paget High School, in Burton Road, Branston, were delighted to learn that parts of the site had been judged to be the best educational new-build project across the entire counties of Staffordshire and Shropshire at the Local Authority Building Control Awards.
The award was handed out for new classrooms and a glazed link corridor that were built by Fords of Blythe Bridge Ltd, which specialises in the design and build of timber-framed buildings for educational use.
The firm has carried out work at hundreds of schools across Staffordshire.
The award recognises technical excellence and innovation in construction, and the judging panel also assessed sustainable design and performance, as well as the building contractor's ability to work as a team and overcome challenges.
