A MAN and woman have been arrested after a mass brawl erupted in a Burton street.
Police said up to 30 people were involved in the incident in Rangemore Street after two groups traded insults before starting to fight each other.
One man had to be taken to Burton's Queen's Hospital with a head injury following the altercation at around 6.30pm on Tuesday night.
Chief Inspector Steve Maskrey, commander of the East Staffordshire local policing team, said: "First of all I would like to stress that this incident is, in no way, connected to previous violent incidents that have taken place in the town.
"This incident resolves around a family disagreement and is something that we are taking very seriously.
"We would like to reassure people that this was a one-off, but we have upped patrols in the area in a bid to make people feel safe.
"We would urge anyone with information about the incident to come forward as soon as possible."
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police said: "Those arrested in connection with the incident, a 28-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man, both from Burton, remain in custody."
