TWO local truck racers will be breaking new ground this weekend as they take part in India’s first-ever truck race.
Burton’s Mat Summerfield and Linton’s Paul McCumisky will fly out to new Delhi before taking part in the innaugural event at the famous Buddh International Race Circuit in Greater Noida on Sunday.
Both will be racing an Indian-built truck TATA, something neither of them have done before.
In January, Tata Motors on launched the T1 Prima Truck Racing Championship to bring truck racing for the first time in the country.
The championship is part of the calendars of the FIA (Federation Internationale de l’Automobile) and FMSCI (the Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India).
The championship, will feature 12 Tata Prima trucks, divided among six teams, with participation from experienced international drivers.
