THE Government's Help to Buy scheme has proved to be divisive, but for one young couple it has allowed them to move into their first home – something which had seemed out of reach.
Critics of the initiative, which enables families to secure a home in return for a deposit of as little of five per cent, say it is driving up prices.
But Tom Dytham and Corinne Bennett are certainly advocates following their move to the new Taylor Wimpey development in Hepworth Road, Woodville.
Mr Dytham, 23, said: "We had looked into mortgages a while ago and were disappointed to find out how little our money would buy us. But then we found out about Help to Buy.
"It all went very smoothly."
