ORGANISATIONS in Rolleston have gratefully accepted a funding boost after being presented with donations following the village's annual transport festival.

The Almshouses Trust, which is aiming to refurbish the historic buildings in the centre of the village, received the lion's share, with Tom Martin accepting £2,500 on behalf of the organisation.

St Mary's Church fund also received a cash boost of £2,000.

Clive Baker, who is behind a project to rediscover the old Rolleston railway station on the Jinny Trail, accepted £500 towards the scheme.

Money was also donated to the Shropshire and Staffordshire Blood Bikes and to the Midlands Air Ambulance. Each received £500 from the event's organising committee.

The cheques were presented on Sunday, in a ceremony at St Mary's Church.

The sixth annual transport festival took place in May and followed a weekend of celebration during the Love Rolleston festival.
