A PET cat was shot with what police believe to be an air weapon.
The incident was reported to police at 3.45pm on April 10.
A spokesman for Staffordshire Police told the Mail: “The cat was shot with what is believed to have been an air weapon whilst in the owner’s garden in Wood Street in Burton.
“It sustained injuries to its leg which required treatment at the vets.
“Anyone who has got any information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 460 of April 10 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Ann Chamberlain from Burton warned other people about the attack through the Mail’s Facebook page.
She wrote that her mum’s cat had been shot and taken to the vets with treatment costing £250.
She said: “The cat was limping as it had been shot in the leg. My friend’s cat, who also lives on Wood Street, wasn’t so lucky, that poor cat died.”
