EXHAUSTED runners who took part in the gruelling London Marathon were offered a helping hand by medical staff based at the national football centre near Burton.
Staff from health, fitness and human performance facility Perform, based at St. George’s Park, offered help to weary marathon finishers this morning.
Runners such as Nigel Elson and Adam John, both from Burton, were treated to massages and physiotherapy assessments, designed to soothe sore legs and painful knees.
They also took the opportunity to use the hydrotherapy suite, complete with a hot tub and a cold plunge pool for those brave enough.
All services, which are normally part of Perform’s Marathon Package, were provided completely free-of-charge.
Phil Horton, Perform director, told the Mail: “The Virgin Money London Marathon is a huge event in the national sports calendar and here at Perform St George’s Park we have a range of cutting-edge marathon packages tailored to help runners both prepare and recover.
“Our team of nationally-acclaimed physios and therapists are experts in their field and know exactly what it takes to complete the 26.2 miles.”
