ONCE again Stretton Anglesey’s Paul Chamberlain showed his liking for the Cooper Cup competition sponsored by Dave and Shelly Brennan as he made it four wins to his name.
The finals were at Stretton and Chamberlain got off to a flying start with a 21-5 win against Lee Bartram in the first round and then followed it with another surprisingly easy 21-8 win against team-mate Brian Smith.
The real battle, though, was in the semi-final, where Belvedere’s Mark Taylor was 17-14 and 20-18 up but Chamberlain kept his cool to get through by the narrowest of margins.
Lee Pacey had impressive wins against two competition specialists on his run to the final, namely Dan Petcher and Naz Worthington, but as the light faded in a late finish Chamberlain got the job done with a 21-15 win.
