VERY warm conditions saw 10 members of South Derbyshire Road Runners AC take part in the re-launched Derby Ramathon.
Shane Chapman, lining up alongside almost 1,500 other runners, led the way for the South Derbyshire club over the 13.1 miles with a superb 54th placed finish.
Chapman clocked an impressive 1hr 27mins 51secs, with Louise Insley finishing just two places behind with a time of 1:28:15.
This led to Insley being awarded a well-deserved third placed prize in the women’s race.
Paul Chapman and Stuart Halsey both also secured outstanding top 100 finishes, in 70th and 91st places respectively, with times of 1:30:43 and 1:33:01.
MV60 Ray Mortlock was next across the line for the club, with a terrific age-related performance of 1:43:53 and a position of 255th. Andy Orme followed in 327th place with a time of 1:47:26.
Wayne Kelleher, who has completed two spring marathons in a busy season to date, battled well for a time of 1:50:57. Cheryl Bell followed with a great performance in 1:53:47 and 481st position overall.
Making her debut over the classic distance, Maria Allen ran well for 2:19:32 with Cath Johnson completing the club’s finishers in 2:56:04.
