Charity shop on lookout for volunteers

A BURTON charity shop which has just celebrated its 15th year in the town has held a volunteer recruitment day.

The PDSA shop in Station Street supports the pet charity which has 180 stores are reliant on the goodwill of volunteers to help sort the donated stock and to run the stores, manning the tills and replenishing the shop floor with high quality donated goods.

East Staffordshire Mayor Councillor Michael Rodgers, who helped the shop celebrate his birthday, was impressed with what he saw.

Manager Gwen Duckhouse said: “The mayor was very impressed with the volunteers and the calibre of young people that work here and agreed that the charity was very important to pet owners and the volunteers were a vital part of the store.

“The Burton store is currently looking for new volunteers who are hard working, enthusiastic and flexible to work on the till and in the back of the store sorting donations and keeping the store stocked.”
