JOSE Mourinho say he hopes to bring his Chelsea team back to the iPro Stadium next season for a Premier League fixture.
Mourinho praised Derby County after watching Chelsea beat the Rams 2-0 in yesterday’s FA Cup third-round tie in front of a sell-out crowd.
Chelsea’s boss believes Derby are strong enough to fight for promotion from the Championship.
“I am not an expert on the League (the Championship), I don’t really know the opposition,” Mourinho added.
“What I know is he (Steve McClaren) is doing a very good job, the team is improving a lot and is already in a quite comfortable play-off position.
“They have a good side and they can fight for promotion.
“I wished Steve McClaren the best for the Championship and hope next season I can come here, not in the cup but in the Premier League.”
Mourinho was happy with the FO Cup victory.
“The game was difficult,” he said. “In the first half we played quite well but still 0-0 at half time is a big risk because in he second half the opponent can score and after that you are in trouble.
“I think they (the players) got the message that in the second half we needed an extra intensity and needed to put them in more difficult situations.
“I decided to change Essien for Eden (Hazard), an extra attacking player. I knew that could make it more difficult for them.
“We won – job done against a good Championship team.”
