A CHILDREN’S charity has praised Burton residents after it broke records with its festive project.

The NSPCC is thanking its supporters in the West Midlands for helping to raise a record-breaking £1.82 million (including Gift Aid) during the festive season and helping to support many local children and families who need a little extra help.

The charity had yet another successful year with the festive fundraising initiative ‘Letter from Santa’ which gives people the chance to send someone special a magical letter from Santa for a suggested donation of £5, and in the West Midlands more than 22,000 children received a personalised and illustrated letter delivered by ‘reindeer mail’.
