A MAN found to be in possession of cannabis and mephedrone in Burton has been handed a community order.

Stefan Greenway, 23, of Dimbles Lane in Lichfield, pleaded guilty to having a quantity of both substances on him at Burton police station in Horninglow Street on July 8.

Appearing at Burton Magistrates' Court for sentencing, a court was told that Greenway was found to be in possession of 1.15 grammes of cannabis and 1.03 grammes of mephedrone, more commonly known as MCAT.

Magistrates said they had considered giving Greenway a custodial sentence, but took into account the IT work he is currently doing and agreed that he should be given another chance.

Greenway was sentenced to an 18-month community order with supervision. He is also subject to a curfew between 9pm and 6am and must pay costs of £145 and a victim surcharge of £60.
