VILLAGERS in Stretton have been left unable to pay gas bills and send parcels after their only post office closed.
The post office, in Main Street, has been closed all week with a notice on the door saying ‘due to an issue with BT’ it cannot process any transactions.
Keith Richards, of Fairham Road, said: “It has been closed since before Monday.
“The notice on the door says an issue with BT but then other businesses would be affected and BT would have got it sorted within hours.”
A spokesman for the Post Office said: “We would like to apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused by the temporary closure of Stretton Post Office.
“This is due to a technical issue beyond our control which is affecting our system at this branch. We are working hard to resolve the issue and restore services as quickly as possible.
“In the meantime, customers can access post office services at Horninglow Post Office, Dean & Smedley Pharmacy, 65-67 Horninglow Road, DE14 2PP.”
